New Assessment on Permafrost

Mac just posted an interesting comment about how the thawing of permafrost could help to increase global warming.  A new estimate was just posted on Science Daily that there is a more carbon stored in the permafrost than researchers had thought.  As the permafrost melts is is releasing more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.  How fast is the permafrost melting in the Hudson Bay area?   Keep reading, hopefully we will find out!

"Install giant pipes in the ocean to stir up deep water and bring it to the surface, causing new blooms of algae to grow and suck carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to fight global warming." i read this of a site and I was amazed, can it be actually possible?? I'll post more blurbs--Rony

A new study published in the journal Atmospheric and Chemistry and Physics proclaims that biofuels derived from corn and rapeseed produce more greenhouse gases than fossil fuels. another thing, it is CRAZY!!!!!!

Zimov points to melting permafrost and states that contained therein are layers of animal waste and other organic matter, which when exposed to the air will release tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as the material decays. Although the UN reported in June that there was no widespread melting of permafrost that could accelerate global warming, they aren't going to disagree that it is possible, probably because it sounds scary. This really relates to Mac and how the Carbon Dioxide. FROM DUNG!!

That's why we need to be aware of the cycles of the Earth and what is natural and what is man-made. Animals and waste do not just disappear, and we can be thankful as we have used the coal and peat produced from these wastes. Climate change does occur naturally - but is man hastening the process?

"Carbon that has been locked away for many of years could escape into the atmosphere if global warming thaws large patches of frozen ground in Alaska and Siberia as expected, a new study warns."
It was amazing when Rony said Cardon Dioxide comes from DUNG! That means were going to start living with dung in the air. That's gross.

Permafrost means, that when the soil is at or below the freezing point of water(0°C or even 32°F)for two or more years. Yes, you can find it in the United States, and you can find it in very cold areas like Alaska or Northern America and etc.- ashyla
